The Evans Research Group is a member the Southern Ontario Centre for Atmospheric Aerosol Research (SOCAAR) , an interdisciplinary centre for the study of aerosol particles in relation to air quality, human health and climate. Our research examines air quality in cities using leading edge instruments and data mining. We direct measure air pollutants in order to identify their sources, how concentrations vary in time and across cities, and the resulting exposure of city residents. Current research focusses on traffic related air pollution, the use of sensor technologies to measure pollutants, and the capacity of these pollutants to deplete anti-oxidants in our lungs.
