Niher obtained Bachelor and Master of Science degrees majoring in Applied Chemistry and Chemical Engineering from the University of Dhaka. Before joining the Ph.D. program at UofT, he worked with leading chemical companies and R&D institutes like BASF, Pidilite, and BCSIR (Bangladesh Council of Scientific and Industrial Research). He has more than thirteen years of industry and research experience in technology innovation, commercialization, and capacity building.  

As a researcher, he aims to contribute to a sustainable future – combining economic success with environmental protection and social responsibility. During his Ph.D., Niher is focusing on innovating advanced non-porous polymeric membrane materials to enable low-energy, high-efficiency water desalination systems.
