Claudio obtained bachelor and master’s in science degrees majoring in Nanotechnology, Nanoscience and Renewal Energies at the Autonomous University of San Luis Potosí, Mexico. During his Master’s degree, he focused his research on the field of synthesis and characterization of functionalized metallic nanomaterials for advanced water treatments and biomedical applications. Currently, he is pursuing a Ph.D. degree in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). He is particularly interested in focusing his scientific research on membrane technology for water desalination and organic solvent nanofiltration (OSN), employing two- and one-dimensional carbon-based materials (graphene oxide, reduced graphene oxide, and graphene oxide nanoribbons). During his Ph.D. degree, Claudio is working on implementing low-dimensional materials for the development of high-performance desalination membranes, in addition to the synthesis of highly absorbent carbon-based materials for radioactive and organic contaminants removal from water. In addition, he has participated in diverse workshops related to clean water production and the mitigation effects of climate change organized by the United Nations, UNESCO, and the International Water Association (IWA).
