Stem Cell Based Cardiac Tissue Engineering
An innovative bioengineering post-doctoral research associate is sought to become a member of a vibrant team investigating the use of stem cell derived cardiomyocytes and cardiovascular progenitors in tissue engineering. This well funded program incorporates research in cardiac and developmental biology, scaffold engineering and growth factor immobilization with the goal of engineering a functional myocardium. Biophysical modulation of the engineered cardiac tissue will be utilized to achieve different maturation levels in cardiomyocytes. The position is funded by the National Science and Engineering Research Council, Canadian Institutes of Health Research and Ontario Research Fund. The ideal person should have experience with cultivation of cardiomyocytes, embryonic stem cell culture and tissue engineering. The candidate should work well in a team environment, interact with the collaborators from the McEwan Center for Regenerative Medicine and be comfortable assuming a leadership role in this multifaceted project.
