The Southern Ontario Centre for Atmospheric Aerosol Research in the Department of Chemical Engineering & Applied Chemistry is looking for volunteers in Toronto to take part in an air quality monitoring study.
The Spatial Characterization of Ultrafine Particles in Toronto (SCULPT) study will investigate the impact of traffic by measuring ultrafine particles, black carbon, fine particulate matter and oxides of nitrogen at different sites across Toronto. The purpose of the SCULPT study is to create a map that illustrates how the concentrations the above mentioned pollutants vary across Toronto.
As a participant in this study, you will be asked to provide 4 ft2 of space in your backyard to accommodate air quality monitoring instruments. Preference will be given to locations with access to an outdoor electrical outlet.
You will be provided with a summary of the air quality outside your home and be reimbursed $20.00 to cover the cost of electricity used to operate the instruments.
